The Arena~

The Arena~~ the new debating show on channel 5.. honestly i love debates.. its the more formal version of an argument/repartee which happens to be my expertise~ *i hope*

today was a battle between Kuo Chuan (proposition) & Xin Min (opposition) secondary schools and the topic was Dun't try to be funny; Our society does not encourage humour

So.. how would u argue that..??

honestly if it were up to me .. i'd say the opposition had their job half done for them.. obviously the topic was biased against the proposition~ and it didnt help that kuo chuan basically sucked at debating... not that xin min was any better.. but at least... better..

both teams were just rambling about bits and pieces of information and neglected the topic altogether.. just like a train that had its train tracks switched... exactly like tat..

The best round was probably the 3rd.. both speakers were more or less more eloquent with their debates but it puzzled me that the proposition was more humourous than the opposition whose goal was to show that singaporeans have a funny bone.. but he was serious thru out.. lighten up dude! and it also bugged me that xin mins 3rd speaker made SUPER MINIMAL eye contact with his opponent.. gosh... tink about it .. if i were to argue with u but look at somewhere else.. heh.. gosh amateurs to the core but anyway .. wat can u expect from secondary school students haha..

sorry if im rambling too much on this haaha... honestly i could onli talk about this to regina since we share a common interest in putting each other down but she aint online! so .. could onli do it here ahhaha

Best Debater - Xin min 3rd speaker (hands down boi .. u owned kuo chuans ass just have more respect for ure opponent)

Best Judge - Tan kheng hua ( i probably shared my views like she did mine~ Good job for being a guest judge!)

Today i mark thee... marist day

yesterday i was helping out at the pre departure seminar for australian students and to my surprise it turned out to be a marist day...

Haha guess wat i found myself a lucky charm! haha it aint a thing.. shes a person .. haha and to answer all ure questions before u even ask it.. the answer is no...

no.. we are just friends .. (answers everything doesnt it)

haha its just quite funny how everytime im with her.. i will meet no less than 3 people that i know.. it even came to a point she was so scared to go out with me.. cos apparently it was demoralising tat whenever im with her.. she doesnt see any of her friends haha!!

does that make me her unlucky charm?? haha we'll see about that

Things I should have done

Date : Around Oct 1996

What happened: The class party we had was almost over.. no one ate the mango pudding i brought and so while Mrs Goh.. My pri 6 school teacher was away for her meeting.. i asked my classmates if anyone wanted any pudding cos i didnt wanna bring it back~ i even asked my cass monitor whether it was alrite to give it away and he consented
When Mrs Goh came back .. she was angry at me for giving away the mango pudding without her permission wanted to punish me.
She called the class around and debated to a bunch of 12 yr olds.. whether what i did was wrong.. In my defence.. i reiterated what she told us at the beginning of the year "When i am not around.. listen to the class monitor"
it was then when i saw who were my real friends.. the teachers pet Barry obviously said i was wrong while my other friends helped to defend me. I on the other hand... just stayed quiet.. too shy .. too afraid to do anything

What i should have done: Now that i have grown up and thought about it.. i could have won that debate hands down.. i should have.. and if god gave me a chance i would have.. no more will i keep quiet and let others protect me.. i will stand on my own 2 feet .. with my tongue which the devil shaped... but god transformed... and i will do good with the abilities that i have

My first dream by God

Today i awoke with a very excited feeling... cos today.. God gave me my first dream of him

it didnt start out good i suppose... i fell out with this friend of mine... and i started roaming the mall.. and soon after i realised i had to go to the toilet.. so i went and did my business there.. after i left the toilet i saw the sun.. and everytime the suns rays hit someone .. it was like a large dosage of UV rays just hit him and he was getting older and everytime it hit another person.. the same thing happened... but the sun had only a small outlet to shine its rays .. so imagine a spotlight that is hunting u down... i tried to run away from the sun rays and barely made it to this store.. at the store.. i went inside to try to find the best sunscreen lotion i could find.. but could only get the sample version of it (those free small packs) so i went out and applied some on my body and then walked away... it wasnt long before long when i realised... i left my bag in the toilet.... deja vu.. i seem to be leaving alot of things in the toilet these days .. so i ran with all my might to the toilet but found another bag there... with grass in it...

i was devastated ... i felt helpless... so remorseful.... cos my PSP was in it!! (i never realised how important my PSP was till this).. i ran around and was trying to search for my bag but i couldnt find it... i met some past friends which i havent met for ages! and they all told me tat they didnt see my bag either.. i was so frustrated and sad... i ran till i fell... flat on the floor.. weeping.. and crying.. it was then i turned to god.... i repented my sins and asked him for forgiveness.. and immediately... an old man walked out from the wall and gestured me to come with him... he led me to this chinese stall just 1 m away and i followed.. inside the stall on a round table were 4 old man playing cards and at one corner of the store was my bag sitting there.... he gestured me to go take my bag and so i did...

When i did the 4 old men suddenly jumped up and wanted to get my bag back!! but the old man held the other men back and asked me to go .... i ran out.. and woke up..

i was so happy and i searched for someone on my msn list to talk to about it and i found Rae ~~
i told her of my interpretation of my dream and she asked me to pray about it.. she also led me to this passage in Isaiah 50:2-4 which reads

When i came, why was there no one?
When i called, why was there no one to answer?
Was my arm too short to ransom you??
Do i lack the strength to rescue you?
By a mere rebuke i dry up the sea i turn rivers into a desert their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst
I clothe the sky with darkness and make sackcloth its covering

The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue to the word that sustains the weary he wakens me morning by morning wakens my ear to listen like one being taught

This passage talks about the sin of Israel..Just as Israel was the chosen nation, so am i who was chosen by God to not rely on my own strength but rely on him.. and to not sin against him.

Amazing dream wasnt it... i was surprised myself... my believe tat the dream was telling me that although i am closer to God but still... i am constantly sinning against him...but even though my bag got stolen (by the 4 old men/devils), God (the other old man) led me back to it and even fended them off for me.. its so wonderful.. and im proud to share this with everyone!!

Its just another Manic Sunday!!~~

Heez.. Sunday! my first sunday.. gonna go to planet shakers today!! i honestly havent heard of planet shakers till 1 day b4 i left..

Sunday also means 2.50 for transport all day!! do u know it costs me $12.60 just to get to the city from Berwick~?

So Regina decided we should just go to the city and check it out!! haha so off we went to Flinders st station!! The first place i went to was federation square which was just opposite the road.. there was this basker over there actually.. was real funny.. his trick was to juggle i tink.. but his performance was great... he entertained the crowd with his jokes and all.. was real good..

further down there was this art gallery showing the different photos of nature and earth.. was really good ..

next we walked below this bridge to find a sorta sunday market going on and the first thing i saw was this zither chord thingy.. its like a piano and a guitar in one? quite kewl actually and the guy playing it actually sells his own cd's..

After the market.. we went around the cultural arts centre where ASTRO BOI was being exhibited! .. was kewl to see an asian artform in australia.. but time flew and i had to meet lixin to go for service.. so we went all the way down swanston st to meet her.

While walking down to Swanston.. we met Regina's housemate, Mavis, and she was on her way home .. Regina wanted to go back with her though.. not tat i wouuld have stopped her(cos she wasnt gonna come with us for service) but in the end she accompanied me to the tramstop and saw us off... cos she had alot of time to kill b4 the next train arrived anyway hehe...

but anyway .. the tram arrived so me and lixin went on our way to PLANETSHAKERS!!!

when i arrived there.. i was kinda nervous since i heard it was GUUD!!! and lo and behold... IT ROCKED!!! the service was damn good la... but lixin had to go back to pack .. i didnt really get to meet anyone except for Paul... he's a kewl guy.. very nice haha.. our first subject was about losing our girlfriends in army lor... power rite?? haha

Anyway we left the place soon after to catch a tram back into the city... from what regina said.. the city's lights are beautiful at night so i requested lixin to accompany me to take pictures of the nite life.. it was beautiful as expected hehe..

The trip back to Berwick was as usual horrendously long.. but it was nice to get to know more about Lixin although she was going to go back the next day.. i got invited to city harvest too! makes me so excited to go back to singapore.. heh.. wat a manic sunday this was =p
